My name is Monika and I am a student at UCLA and also a JOY HELPS Student Engagement Manager. I am delighted to announce the world's first college mental health pitch competition. Students can win thousands of dollars for their innovative ideas on how to improve mental health.

What is the JOY HELPS Pitch Competition?
JOY HELPS will help you uncover your unique strengths and talents, so you can achieve your goals and live your best life.
Why Participate?
- Improve the mental health of individuals or groups around the world.
- College student entrepreneurs build skills in creativity, innovation, communications, marketing, finance, the law and develop an entrepreneurial mindset while helping improve the mental health of others.
- All JOY Pitch Competition entrants enhance the college and job applications.
- Build teams and make friendships through creating teams at your college campus or with students from other campuses (through our Discord channel)
- JOY Pitch Competition finalists can win thousands of dollars to fund their products and services!
Who is Eligible?
Any college student, who is 18 years-old or older, attending a two-year or four-year U.S. college or university is eligible. Students must be registered (current) college students at the time of the competition (May 7th, 2024)
What are the Steps?
1) Apply - Submit a 60-90 second video pitch and submit to JOY for review.
- Due Monday, March 25th, 2024 at 5pm Central Standard Time
2) Notification - Applicants are notified if they reached the final competition or not.
- Applicants will be notified no later than Monday, April 16th at 5pm Central Standard Time as to whether they reached the final competition or not.
3) Compete - The final competition is a virtual (online) competition where 8 individuals (or teams of up to 3 college students) deliver live 8 minute pitches on their mental health product or service ideas.
- The live virtual (online) competition will take place on Monday, May 7th from noon (12pm-2pm) Central Standard Time.
What can Students Win?
Prizes include include:
1st Place - $2,000
2nd Place - $1,000
3rd Place - $500
4th-8th Place - $50 Visa Gift cards
How much does it Cost to Enter?
The competition is free and open to all current students at two year and four year colleges and universities.

1. Create your video in a quiet setting with nothing distracting in the background. Have adequate lighting, and utilize a ring light if possible. We recommend using a desktop, laptop, or smartphone to create your video.

2. Upload to a YouTube channel. If you don't have one they can easily be created in a few minutes. Note that the video must be publicly viewable.
